Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at admin@wheresapp.net if you cannot find an answer to your question.

WheresApp is a simple and reliable tool for private live location tracking. It allows you to stay connected with family and friends by seeing their real-time location on a map.

Yes, WheresApp provides its core location tracking features for free.

WheresApp is currently available on iOS and Android.

Absolutely. WheresApp uses end-to-end encryption, meaning your live location is secured with a "lock". Only you and the person you are sharing with can see your location—not even WheresApp can access it.

No. WheresApp is not a spying or secret surveillance solution. A user must manually install the app and explicitly accept a location-sharing request to be tracked.

You have full control. You can stop tracking at any time with a single tap within the app.

Beyond their exact address on a map, you can also monitor their battery charge level, which is helpful for keeping tabs on children or elderly relatives.

While location services can impact battery life, the app uses optimized algorithms to minimize this impact. You can also disable background GPS from the settings menu whenever needed.

Simply send an invitation link. Once your family member or friend follows the link and accepts the request, you will be connected in a private network.

Ensure that Location Services are enabled in your phone's system settings and set to "High Accuracy" mode. Being indoors or in areas with tall buildings may occasionally affect GPS precision.

Check if the contact has their phone turned on and has an active internet connection. If they have manually stopped sharing or their battery has died, their location will not update.

A geofence is a virtual boundary (like a circle around your home or your child’s school) that you set on the map.

  1. Open the app and navigate to the Geofence or Safe Zones tab.
  2. Tap the "+" icon to create a new zone.
  3. Select the location on the map (e.g., "School") and set the radius for the boundary.
  4. Name the zone and tap Save or Set.

You will receive instant alerts on your phone whenever your connected family member enters or leaves the designated geofenced area.

WheresApp allows you to define multiple safe zones, such as Home, School, or Work, so you can stay updated throughout your family’s daily routine.

WheresApp acts as a dedicated family locator, allowing you to see your child's exact location on a private map. You can also monitor their battery charge level to ensure their phone doesn't die while they are out.

Yes. WheresApp is designed for private networks. A user can only be tracked if they manually install the app and explicitly accept your invitation link. It is not a secret surveillance tool, ensuring all tracking is consensual and within your trusted circle.

WheresApp uses end-to-end encryption for live location data. This means only you and your child can see the location; the data is "locked" so even WheresApp cannot access it.

Yes. WheresApp includes a Location History feature that allows you to see a "breadcrumb trail" of past movements over the last 24 hours (or longer, depending on your plan).

Absolutely. Like your live location, your travel history is end-to-end encrypted. Only you and the people you've explicitly shared with can view this data.

You can clear your entire history or specific trips at any time through the Privacy Settings menu. Once deleted, this data is wiped from our servers and cannot be recovered.

Gaps usually occur if the device lost internet connection, was powered off, or if Battery Saver mode disabled GPS tracking.

 Setting up is easy!

  1. Download the app from the Play Store.
  2. Register using your phone number or email.
  3. Enable Permissions: Grant "Always Allow" location access and "Physical Activity" for accurate tracking.
  4. Invite: Send a private invite link to your family members

To provide real-time safety, WheresApp needs to update your location even when the app is running in the background. This ensures your family can see where you are even if your phone is in your pocket.
